Georgia Walk for Autism Speaks

Sunday, May 20th, marked the 6th Anniversary of Georgia’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks held at Atlantic Station, in Atlanta Georgia. It was a beautiful day filled with blue skies and high spirits!  In fact, over 11,000 people were there to Walk Now for Autism Speaks and get information from over 40 Resource and Service Providers.

Special guests for the day included Mr. Bernie Marcus, best known in the business world as co-founder and former CEO of The Home Depot, but more importantly for his philanthropy and founding of the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta.   This was Bernie’s 6th consecutive year participating and he emphasized the importance of the mission and the Walk while addressing the crowd.

Walk Chairs, Dawn Lyon and Jason Cristal also energized the crowd as they shared their passion for the mission and participation in the Walk.  “We want to thank our many families for coming out to support and Walk Now for Autism Speaks.  Through your efforts we have raised over $550,000 and are on our way to reaching  our goal of $755,000.   The success of this event is due to the hard work and dedication of each volunteer, walker, team member, team captain, sponsor and in-kind donor.   Thank you so much for your support and let’s keep the fundraising going”.

Thank you to the 2012  Walk sponsors;  BP am/pm, The Home Depot, Resurgens Orthopaedics, Costco, Kroger, Wellstar,  Pepsi and Hard Rock for supporting Walk Now for Autism Speaks Georgia.  We appreciate you!
