Resurgens Charitable Foundation hosted its eighth annual fundraising golf tournament on Tuesday, November 3 at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, GA.
The tournament was a great success. More than 80 golfers participated in the tournament and nearly $120,000 was raised to further the Foundation's projects, which include the construction of all-abilities playgrounds, sponsorship of events that aid disabled children, and other initiatives promoting total health and wellness in kids.
"This event wouldn't have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors," said Foundation President Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick. "We would like to thank all of them for participating."
Resurgens Charitable Foundation has partnered with BlazeSports for several years to sponsor events for kids and adults with disabilities throughout Georgia. In addition, the Foundation has sponsored Camp Collinswood Summer Camp for disabled children and their families with the North Metro Miracle League.
Since 2001, the Foundation has helped fund eight specially designed all-abilities playgrounds. All-abilities playgrounds enable all children to experience the joy of playing outdoors, even those with disabilities.
In addition to providing all-abilities playgrounds, the Foundation aims to promote total health in children by preventing youth sports injuries through education. With the help of Atlanta Braves legends Tom Glavine and John Smoltz, the Foundation produced an educational video featuring injury prevention tips and recommendations, titled Striking out Injuries in Youth Baseball.
Resurgens Charitable Foundation, whose mission is "to support our community with the opportunities to play, to heal, to learn, and to live," was formed in 2001 with a fund raising effort in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11th. Since then, it has evolved to focus on youth health and fitness, and raising funds to build specially designed "all abilities" playgrounds for children in the metropolitan Atlanta area. A major goal of the Foundation is to support construction of at least one of these playgrounds a year.
